A little while ago a friend and old work colleague of mine, the lovely Debbie Wallwork mentioned an idea to carry out a photo shoot for a “real” couple, perhaps even newly engaged, in the Cambridgeshire countryside with teapots and cake stands and of course, pretty layer cakes and pastel coloured cupcakes… Just mention Cambridge and countryside to me and I am a sucker! So naturally, I was in as soon as she mentioned the idea!
The idea was to ask an engaged couple who were naturally happy and in love to walk around, cuddle up and have their picture taken whilst enjoying a sweet country feast in the form of afternoon tea. Enter The Secluded Tea Party and our delicious afternoon tea treats and layer cakes alongside copious amounts of hot tea to keep us all warm on this freezing cold, pre-snowy Saturday morning in February. Brrrr.
Debbie works as a freelance photographer, based in Cambridgeshire and travels the length & breadth of the country to take her unique photographs for anything you might need, such as events, weddings, pets portraits, newborn babies, boudoir shots and now pre-wedding and engagement photo shoots to help relax the happy couple and get them used to the camera and their photographer before their special day. I think this is a fabulous idea and it helps the models to practise and get used to what makes them more comfortable.
The lovely couple that we used for the photo shoot were Pete and Ellie, recently married and slightly nervous themselves at the very beginning. They were both fantastic, literally walking around this superb working farm holding hands, smiling and telling each other silly jokes to get one another giggling. The laughter didn’t stop from start to end, despite everybody’s toes going blue with the cold hehe.
Pete had told Debbie how nervous he was about having his photos taken and had mentioned that he automatically closes his eyes as soon as he hears a camera shutter. So instead of Debbie dismissing him, as some photographers have with him in the past, she advised him on a way to prepare for his photograph to be taken and as he followed her simple instructions, he realised he needn’t be worried about this anymore and I think this really helped to relax him which was just wonderful to see happening there and then.
So, whether you are engaged, just loved up or purely wanting a relaxed photo shoot with perhaps your friends or family, why not ask Debbie Wallwork to help you plan some beautiful and natural shots alongside your very own photogenic afternoon tea party or picnic in the countryside (or the city!) with The Secluded Tea Party?
Perhaps you want to have a full on Birthday or a Hen party with us and enjoy a sophisticated afternoon whilst having a few snaps taken whilst you chat away and enjoy?
You can tuck into your afternoon tea party table whilst having the photos that you want taken, and you can even get really creative or even mucky and have a messy cake fight, or rip into your cake and food with your own bare hands, minus the cake forks… it’s your afternoon tea photo shoot, so your rules and your ideas… We will happily oblige!
