Hello!
I’m Jo Christy, better known as my alter ego, “Miss Sue Flay” and I’m the founder and editor at MissSueFlay.com.
○ Afternoon Tea Aficionado
○ Etiquette Rebel
○ Luxury Traveler
I have been known to host exclusive & themed afternoon tea etiquette events, now reviewing afternoon tea & luxury travel destinations – working with brands to showcase the exciting destinations our world offers. I’m on a mission; to travel in pursuit of the most delicious, exciting and luxurious afternoon tea & relaxing spa adventures in the world.
MissSueFlay.com partners with afternoon tea, spa and travel brands that share the same passions and want to encourage people to dine or stay somewhere new or unique. I adore the geeky things, knowing how something works or why we do it, which is why I love the etiquette of afternoon tea, but I still love to be a rebel and dunk my biscuits or mount a Harley Davidson as much as the next girl – I’m always a firm believer in staying true to yourself, life doesn’t have to be dull!
About Me
What do I love most? Saying yes to new experiences, enjoying a good afternoon tea, popping a bottle of champagne outdoors (on a beach or in a park!), collecting books I don’t ever read, meeting new friends in unexpected places and planning my next travel adventure. I started blogging back in 2010 alongside a series of themed pop-up afternoon tea events called “The Secluded Tea Party”, where I also began to review local afternoon tea venues around the UK for various publications. I hosted everything from a vintage tea party, through to a gory zombie event, even a “Breaking Bad” tea party complete with edible crystal meth – I’m a geek!
Out of a love for afternoon tea, British etiquette and world travel, I created this little part of the world wide web to connect with likeminded food lovers and wannabe travelers, as well as teach my readers some good manners along the way. I never really travelled in my teens or my 20’s, but after a relationship shake up, entering my 30’s with no children or “real” ties, I decided to enjoy the finer things in life and share my adventures with others who delight in planning luxury travel, but have no idea where to start. I seek out the exciting hotspots and relaxing destinations out there, reporting back through my love of blogging and social media. I travel the world, sharing my experiences & knowledge, favourite afternoon tea, hotel & spa locations, reviewing & working with brands or individuals along the way. I have set myself a challenge to travel “Around The World in #80Stays” to create a luxury travel adventure to get me finally seeing some of the world, having never travelled in the past.

My reviews include my own photography, videography and writing – stock images are rarely used within my bespoke features and reviews, making my blog posts unique to the featured brand or venue. I will never feature a press release within my blog, all featured venues are from personal experience of visiting, not simply from a quick glance of a website – these are real dining & travel features.
Afternoon Tea & Etiquette
My afternoon tea etiquette events & workshops proved highly popular over the years, as the perfect addition to any afternoon tea within a hotel, tearoom or luxury venue. Please Note – I’m not currently available to hire for these workshops, due to working full time in social media marketing for a large UK based travel company. I am, however, available to advise and have fun with certain projects, so drop me a line to chat! For more information on afternoon tea etiquette, click here. Luxury Spas & Travel
I’ve evolved from an afternoon tea expert, through to an authority on the best places to enjoy afternoon tea and the best luxury hotels & spas to stay, encouraging readers to visit and dine on special occasions. Do you represent a destination or brand that would appeal to readers at MissSueFlay.com? I can offer reviews of afternoon tea or dining venues, destinations, tours, spas, attractions or accommodation. Read some of my hotel and spa reviews here. Clients & Expertise
I have worked with brands such as Godiva, Rodda’s Clotted Cream, Nudge PR, Hotpoint, Champneys, Hotel du Vin, John Lewis, Kenwood, Malmaison, Regus, Travelodge and Vax. I have also worked for Rakuten.com, formally Play.com, within their customer service team, hosting their social media accounts and training their large call centre team to handle the same accounts out of hours.
More About Me…
I am an introvert, utterly infatuated with all things cake and afternoon tea related. I can’t pass up the opportunity to take tea on my travels & if I do then I am either seriously unwell or already full up! A country girl through and through, I grew up on a farm and loved the countryside from a very early age. I adore Cambridge and the beautiful villages and walks that it offers. I am very proud of my self-taught baking history and the business I have managed to set up around my love of cake & tea. Some ideas haven’t been so successful, such as my attempt to complete 101 challenges in 1001 days (I got about quarter of a way through before starting this venture!) and failing at becoming a Roller Derby babe, seeing as I couldn’t even do a lap without falling on my derrière. Ouch. Outside of tea and cake, I am a massive film geek, I love holidays by the coast, walking with the pup and traditional Sunday roasts by a roaring fire. You also might want to know that I have a huge crush on David Bowie. Huge.
