If you’re anything like me, you love to dunk a biscuit into your cup of tea, no matter how much it goes against the rules of afternoon tea etiquette, it’s simply far too satisfying not to.
Sometimes you fancy something sweet with a cuppa, but a simple Jammie Dodger, Hobnob or chocolate finger just won’t do.
Yes, this is notoriously a luxury chocolate brand, however, they also create a selection of stunning and slender biscuits to perfectly compliment your afternoon tea cravings.
The lovely team at Godiva recently sent me a box of their Almond Speculoos Sables… and these were a truly heavenly biscuit sensation.
Priced at £9 a box, these are fairly pricey dunkers in the grand scheme of it, however if you’re looking to treat yourself to something a little bit special or find a gift for the afternoon tea lover, these beautiful sables are just the ticket.
Once you’ve opened these, even if you’re like me and find it very easy to finish the entire box very quickly on any normal day, you’ll find you will want to take your time with these.
The taste, the texture, even the amount of tea they soak up whilst dunking…. Every elements reflects the price point, they’re a perfect biscuit.
I was expecting these to taste of a synthetic almond, marzipan-like, but they’re nothing like I had imagined. They have tiny chunks of almond pieces within the thin crisp fingers so there’s a lovely bite to eat dainty nibble and the dark chocolate coating the tops is the perfect addition.
If you are a dunker, the only point to note is that the chocolate will dissolve into your drink, leaving a slight chocolatey foam to your hot drink. But, in all honesty, you don’t need to dunk these, they’re delicious without the need to soak them and suck them dry…. No, just me?!
Whilst sampling these, I was enjoying a peaceful glamping break away from home in the Norfolk countryside, with a couple leftover for my elevenses at work the next day (thanks to my gorgeous man friend for wrapping them in a cute foil shape, he’s a keeper)!
Not forgetting the leftovers in the office the next day… I’m surprised there were any leftover, I must admit!
Saying that, you don’t need to be in the countryside to enjoy these…
