Well, where do I start with this place?
To say is Annabel’s Egg Shed and Hen House is a hidden gem is an understatement, this place is really quite cool…
… I know that’s not the best way to describe something, but it is.
Tucked away on a farm in the middle of the Norfolk countryside, just nestled beside Wymondham Abbey, Annabel’s Hen House is the perfect place for a good quality cup of coffee and a slice of something homemade and delicious.
Based around the egg shed, where you can simply turn up and pop your money into the vending machine to collect your freshly laid eggs.
This beautiful part of the world allows you to relax within one of the many sheds set up around it.
Basically, instead of taking a seat in the main cafe, where they serve beautiful cakes, scones and homemade goodies, you head outside and settle into your own cosy garden shed.
Each shed outside the Hen House is designed slightly differently and offers shelter from the rain or sun, each with a different number of chairs and tables inside.
It’s just fantastic.
Great fun for kids and adults alike, we loved having a good nosey at each shed and having the pick of them all on the day we visited.
Opting for the large summer house with two tables, we curled up underneath the heater hanging neatly from the ceiling and tucked into sea salt and sage scones (wow, truly delicious!) and chocolate brownies between cups of coffee and hot chocolate.
You can tell these treats are made with love, full of flavour, just beautiful for an afternoon snack.
The main cafe is also home to a well stocked gift shop, with beautiful ceramics, tea towels, boutique gift ideas for any occasion.
They also sell scented candles, stunning handmade pottery and gift cards and wraps – this is a great place for some independent shopping.
I even treated us all to a “Norfolk slang” teatowel, I just couldn’t resist!
Dogs on leads welcome too, pawfect!
Open Tuesday to Saturday 10m to 2pm, but check their website for full and updated info.
If you are passing Wymondham on the way to Norwich or back again, then don’t miss a quick pitstop at this place, you won’t regret it.
