I don’t know about you, but I love a good wedge of cake and a cuppa, if you didn’t know me by now?!
As a result, I am off for my very first experience of Cake International in Birmingham in November with the lovely Lynn from The Clandestine Cake Club and I cannot wait to get my nose stuck in and gain lots of baking inspiration from the hundred of stands and demos hosted at this sweet event.
I have experienced The Cake & Bake Show in London twice now, once as a guest and once as a stand helper and both experiences were very different indeed… well, now I am facing the thought process of hosting a workshop at the 2014 Cake International Show and I am not only sweating at the thought, but also very excited… I like to push myself into these unusual experiences and for me, this will be very daunting, but fun all the same time.
The workshop is not set in stone, just a thought process and a few planning hours ahead of me, but watch this space for news on this as the idea develops… eek!
Some of you may even be shouting at your screen and asking what on earth Cake International is?!
Well, it’s a show full of sugarcraft, cake decorating and baking inspiration, talks, live competitions, demonstrations, stalls, book signings and general cake & baking geekery.
This show is hosted in London, Manchester and heading Birmingham between the 8th – 10th November 2013 at the NEC. Special guests at the Birmingham show will include the queen of baking herself, Mary Berry as well as cake & baking personalities & authors such as Little Venice Cake Company’s Mich Turner, Stephen Benison, Sheila Lampkin and Wendy Schlagwein to name a few.
Visitors get to spend a whole 3 days in cakey heaven, educating themselves in the latest trends, ideas and designs and will be opened on the Friday by Mary Berry, before she sticks around to help teach her favourite recipes and skills throughout the weekend during her demos.
Cake International is the world’s largest show of this type, features over 100 exhibitors from around the world and allows everybody, juniors included, to enter competitions and classes throughout the duration. No matter what your fascination in the cake world, be it sugarcrafting, chocolate or something more modern, there is something for everyone… apprently : )
